Niigata University signed an Exchange Agreement with Hunan University, China

Niigata University signed an exchange agreement with Hunan University (Changsha, Hunan Province, China) on June 14, 2010.

Hunan University is one of the key universities affiliated with the Chinese Ministry of Education, and has been selected as one of the top 38 universities under China’s “985 Project.” Hunan University’s history dates back to 976 AD when one of its research institutes, the Yuelu Academy, was originally founded.

Hunan University is a large-scale comprehensive university with 31 colleges and institutes including Accounting; Law; Computer and Communication; Chemistry and Chemical Engineering; Foreign Languages; Electrical and Information Engineering; International Studies; Yuelu Academy; and the Institute of Educational Science. It also houses 3 national scientific research institutes as well as 24 provincial scientific institutes. The enrollment is approximately 30,000.

A joint research project undertaken by Prof. Shiro Sekio, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and the Yuelu Academy has led to the initiation of this agreement. It is expected that the two universities will continue to enhance research and student exchange in various areas.
