Niigata University signed an Exchange Agreement with National Central University, Taiwan

Niigata University concluded an exchange agreement with National Central University (Taoyuan County Taiwan) on May 24, 2010.

The history of National Central University (NCU) dates back to 1903 when its predecessor university, Liangjiang Normal School, was founded in Nanjing. As a national comprehensive university, NCU presently has 7 collages (Liberal Arts, Engineering, Management, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Earth Science, and Hakka Studies) comprising 19 departments with the enrolment of approximately 12,000. It offers 43 postgraduate courses and 10 research institutes in areas including Space Engineering, Disaster Prevention, and Nanotechnology. NCU boasts superb research facilities particularly in the areas of Space Engineering and Astronomy, and has been designated as one of the seven research-oriented universities in Taiwan continually achieving progress in cutting-edge technology.

The exchange agreement was made possible thanks to Dr. Yoshio Yamaguchi, Faculty of Engineering, who had worked for many years on joint research projects involving student exchange with NCU’s Center for Space and Remote Sensing Research. The agreement will facilitate further cooperation between the two universities in various research areas in addition to remote sensing. Student exchange programs including a double-degree program are also expected to be designed.
