In order to prevent further spread of the novel coronavirus infectious disease (COVID-19), Niigata University asks all of our students to cooperate in the following way:

1  Travel inside and outside of Japan

For the time being, starting from January 15, 2021*, when you travel out of Niigata prefecture, please observe the following notes.

*The restriction period is subject to change depending on the government's policy and the situation of COVID-19.

1. We strongly urge you to avoid traveling to:
   Areas where the state of emergency has been declared by the government**
   **As of January 14, 2021: Tochigi, Saitama, Chiba, Tokyo, Kanagawa, Aichi, Gifu, Kyoto, Osaka, Hyogo, and Fukuoka
2. We advise you to avoid traveling to:
   Hokkaido***
   ***The areas are subject to change depending on the situation of COVID-19 in Japan.
3. Regarding areas excluding above mentioned:
   When you travel to areas excluding above mentioned, you are required to make sufficient consideration of the necessity of your journey. If you need to travel out of Niigata prefecture, please take a basic infection control measures such as wearing a mask.

When you travel out of Niigata prefecture, you are required to monitor your health for two weeks, by taking your temperature and recording all the symptoms of illness, in order to prevent the spread of the infection. In addition, we ask you to record all activities you took for two weeks, including the information about when, where, and who you met with. We will use your health checklist and self-reporting travel/activity form to find people who may have had close contact with you when you get tested positive for COVID-19.

2  Job hunting and internship participation

When you travel out of Niigata prefecture, you are required to monitor your health for two weeks, by taking your temperature and recording all the symptoms of illness, in order to prevent the spread of the infection. In addition, we ask you to record all activities you took for two weeks, including the information about when, where, and who you met with. We will use your health checklist and self-reporting travel/activity form to find people who may have had close contact with you when you get tested positive for COVID-19.

3  Request to avoid crowded places

You have been requested not to hold events, such as social gatherings and parties both inside and outside of the campus. We still strongly urge that you continue to refrain from eating in a group as well as gathering at a certain place, such as an apartment.
