AY2020 Spring Graduation Ceremony (Updated: Mar. 15, 2021)

Niigata University Spring Graduation Ceremony for the 2020 academic year is to be held as follows with a view to preventing the spread of the novel coronavirus infectious disease (COVID-19).

The ceremony will take place separately at several places, such as lecture rooms in the buildings of respective Faculty/Graduate School, not at Toki Messe as usual. 

Please refrain from inviting family members, and the the video of the ceremony is to be streamed online.

Time & Venue

Please see the list for the details about the time, place, and degree conferment for respective Faculty/Graduate School. The list is only Japanese, and please contact the Student Affairs Office of Faculty/Graduate School in the case you need support.
*Private vehicles are not allowed to enter the campus to see off graduating students. Please refrain from parking at the stores near the campus.

Video Streaming

For those graduates and their family who cannot participate in the ceremony, the video of part of the ceremony, including the President's graduation address and the address by the representative of the graduates will be streamed on YouTube.

 

Graduation parties held by each Faculty/Graduate School are to be canceled due to the risk of infection of COVID-19 related to eating and drinking. Please refrain from holding graduation receptions organized by students, staff and faculty members.

Please note that the above schedule is subject to change depending on the situation of COVID-19.

 

To Niigata University Graduates
Participating in the Graduation Ceremony
Those who will be participating in AY2020 Spring Graduation Ceremony are strongly requested not to travel out of Niigata prefecture two weeks before the ceremony; between Monday March 8, 2021 and Tuesday March 23, 2021. In the case you travel out of Niigata prefecture during the above period, please refrain from participation.

Those who do not hope to or cannot participate will be able to watch the ceremony that will be streamed on YouTube.

On the Day of the Graduation Ceremony
Please make sure to wear a mask within the venue, and avoid "Three Cs"; Closed spaces within poor ventilation, Crowded places with many people nearby, and Close-contact settings such as close-range conversations.

If you have any symptoms such as fever, coughing, sore throat or fatigue, please refrain from attending.

Graduation Party, Traveling Including Graduation Trips
Graduation parties held by each Faculty/Graduate School are to be canceled. Please refrain from holding graduation receptions organized by students, staff and faculty members.

Regarding traveling, including graduation trips, our graduates are requested to refrain from taking trips, especially outside Niigata prefecture, considering the fact that young people travel around without being aware that they are infected, which results in the increase of spread of COVID-19.
