Niigata University intends to increase face-to-face classes as much as possible for the second term of the first semester for AY 2022, keeping an eye on the infection situation of COVID-19.

How to conduct classes:

• Classes of 150 students or less are to be conducted face-to-face in principle; however, the number of students should not exceed 50% of normal seating capacity of lecture rooms.
• Classes of 150 students or more are to be conducted non-face-to-face in principle, even if the number of students remains around 50% of normal seating capacity. However, classes will be conducted using a hybrid style that combines both non-face-to-face and face-to-face measures depending on the situation and other factors.

[Classes at Faculty/Graduate School]

• The basic rule is to conduct face-to-face classes with taking infection control measures. In case, however, it is difficult to take infection prevention, the measures of non-face-to-face, or the combination of face-to-face and non-face-to-face classes will be adopted based on the decision by Dean of each Faculty or Graduate School.

Points to Note

• We will notify you of the information, including how to conduct each class of the first semester for AY 2022, through Niigata University Syllabus Search and Student Web System. You will also receive notifications from your faculty and class instructor. We ask you to check the information carefully.
• Upon taking face-to-face classes, you are required to follow the instruction from your class instructor as well as to be responsible for your health management by wearing a mask and checking your body temperature.
• Please be noted that there might be changes in conducting classes, such as ceasing face-to-face classes depending on the situation of the infection.
• In case the coronavirus infections are confirmed on campuses and it becomes necessary to identify the persons who have had close contact with the infected person, we ask you to take a seat with a QR code when you attend classes, as it traces the information of classroom seating. When you enter and leave the lecture rooms, be sure to read the code with the smartphone app called “Mamoru Biz.”
• Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare recommends the use of "COVID-19 Contact-Confirming Application (COCOA)", which enables you to receive notifications about possibility of contact with someone infected with COVID-19. In order to install COCOA, please see HERE.
