The Opening Ceremony of the 2019 Autumn Semester for international students was held on Thursday, September 26 at the Library Hall on Ikarashi Campus. As a large number of international students are enrolled in the autumn semester, this ceremony is conducted as their "Entrance Ceremony".
This semester, Niigata University welcomed a total of 186 new students from 28 countries and regions including China, Taiwan, Russia, France, Thailand, Germany, Sri Lanka and others.
At the beginning of the ceremony, President Takahashi gave his welcome address with expressing his gratitude to the students for choosing Niigata University and saying; "In addition to what you learn from class, please also learn a lot about Japanese culture and history and enjoy rich nature and food in Niigata in your daily lives. I hope that all of you students will develop your potential and possibilities in this ideal environment." Following the President, a student from Brazil spoke for the international students.
We wish all of the new students the very best in their student life here at Niigata University.
