Inter-University Agreement Concluded with University of Delhi

Niigata University signed an inter-university agreement with University of Delhi, India.

University of Delhi established in 1922, a national comprehensive university located in Delhi, the capital of India and is one of India’s top universities with sixteen faculties and five research institutes. The Vice-President is the Chancellor and the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of India is the Pro-Chancellor of the University and it is known as a prestigious university that has produced many internationally prominent researchers, company founders, CEOs, including the current Prime Minister.

This inter-university agreement is an outcome of the private meeting between University of Delhi Vice-Chancellor Yogesh SIGNH, and Niigata University President USHIKI Tatsuo, on the sidelines of India-Japan University Presidents forum held at Kyoto in September, 2023. The agreement has been concluded with the aim of research and student exchange in a wide range of academic fields.

Niigata University has an “Inter-University Exchange Project in the Indo-Pacific Region”, which supported by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT). This project, coordinated by the Faculty of Science, envisages the development of international field science education programs in cooperation with several universities in India, Sri Lanka, and Australia. University of Delhi is also being considered as a partner university in the project to work together from now on. 

The signing ceremony was held on December 14, 2023, and was attended by Dr. Vikas GUPTA, Registrar, Prof. Balram PANI, Dean of Colleges, and several other office-bearers from University of Delhi, and the President USHIKI Tatsuo, and the Vice President SATISH KUMAR, from Niigata University. At the beginning of the ceremony both universities highlighted their distinctive strengths in education which can be further enhanced by working together. The Agreement was signed in a friendly and cordial atmosphere, where both sides confirmed their commitment to promote cooperation for the future.

We will continue to expand academic exchanges with universities in the Indo-Pacific region.
