A student of Niigata University was tested positive for the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) on Wednesday, July 29, 2020.
The details of this case and Niigata University's preventive measures to take for the future are as follows.

1. Student who was tested positive for COVID-19
    The student is a male in his 20's, living in Nishi-ku, Niigata city.

2. Details of the infected student's activity
     Friday, July 17 - Monday, July 20: Trip to Osaka with his friends by plane
     Saturday, July 25: Lost sense of taste and smell
     Monday, July 27: Visited medical facility
     Tuesday, July 28: Took PCR test
     Wednesday, July 29: Tested positive for COVID-19, and admitted to the hospital in Niigata city
  *This student has not come to campus since returning from Osaka, and does not have oversea travel history.
     We have been investigating close contacts with the student.

3. Regarding the university's measures
    The COVID-19 Task Force of Niigata University has been coping with this case.
    We will endeavor to prevent further spread of COVID-19 among our students, faculty, and staff.
