[All Niigata University students and staff] Request for thorough effort to prevent further spread of the novel coronavirus (Notification from the President) (July 31, 2020)

Although Niigata University has been taking thorough measures to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus, a student of NU was confirmed to be positive for the virus on Wednesday, July 29 and four more students were tested positive on Friday, July 31. It has been revealed that those students went travelling to Osaka together between Friday, July 17 and Monday, July 20. Confirmed cases of the virus have been surging not only in Tokyo, Aichi, Osaka but also in many parts throughout Japan.

Considering the situation, all NU students and staff are required to take prevention measures against the virus, and take extra caution on the following things.

  1. Wear a mask and keep social distance when you talk to others. Make sure to wash your hands and sanitize your fingers after going out.
  2. Avoid the "Three Cs" (Closed spaces with poor ventilation, Crowded places with many people nearby, Close-contact settings such as close-range conversations), including in the evening.
  3. Refrain from holding social gatherings such as drinking parties and eating-out with your classmates or colleagues, including in dormitories and apartment buildings.
  4. Do not travel in a group with more than four people, including a travel with members of club activities.
  5. Regarding the extracurricular activities, please take extra caution on the risk of infections and the rules of reporting the activities.
  6. Take extra caution when you move out of Niigata. Please avoid close contact with the person who comes from outside Niigata.
