The Program for Forming Japan’s Peak Research Universities (J-PEAKS) is a national initiative launched by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) of Japan to strengthen research capacity at regional core universities. In fiscal year 2024, Niigata University was selected as one of the universities to participate in the J-PEAKS Program.
At Niigata University, the University focuses on two key research fields - “Brain and Life” and “Food and Health.” In these fields, the University advances research that is deeply rooted in the local community while also contributing to global academic progress and real-world applications.
Through collaboration with leading research institutions in Japan and abroad, Niigata University will establish multiple research centers and laboratories, thereby fostering an environment that attracts and nurtures outstanding researchers.
