Graduate School of Modern Society and Culture

The Graduate School of Modern Society and Culture is a comprehensive graduate school of the humanities and social sciences. Classes with small number of students and a multiple-guidance system help to produce highly specialized professionals with the ability to investigate various issues. The School also welcomes many mature and international students.

Please note: Starting in April 2026, the Graduate School of Modern Society and Culture and the Graduate School of  Science and Technology will be integrated to establish the new Graduate School of Integrated Arts and Sciences (Master’s Program). This new graduate school will offer two majors:

  • Master's Program of Humanities and Social Sciences
  • Master's Program of Sciences and Technologies

Please note the following:

  • The Master’s Programs in both the Graduate School of Modern Society and Culture and the Graduate School of Science and Technology will no longer accept new students beginning in the 2026 academic year.
  • The Doctoral Programs in both graduate schools will continue to admit students for the time being; however, they are scheduled to be reorganized into the Doctoral Program of the Graduate School of Integrated Arts and Sciences in April 2028.
