[To all NU Students] Regarding the Spread of the Confirmed Cases of the Novel Coronavirus in Club Activities (Published on Apr. 16, 2021)

Apr 16 2021

To students who belong to club activities:

Lately, the number of confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus of NU students has been increasing at a rapid pace.
It has been confirmed that several cases were occurred due to some social gatherings which were held by a group of people, especially members of club activities when they gathered together to eat and drink in the same place.

If the confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus continue to rise, we will have no choice but to suspend all club activities in order to prevent the further spread of the virus.

To avoid this to happen, when you participate in club activities, please take extra caution and refrain from holding social gatherings with multiple people, including having drinking parties and dining together as the risk of infection will increase in those settings.

Niigata University has established “Guidelines for the extra-curricular activities to prevent the infection of the novel coronavirus,” which stipulates the basic policy as follows.

“Guidelines for the extra-curricular activities to prevent the infection of the novel coronavirus” (Japanese only)

1. Basic policy regarding the extra-curricular activities under the impact of the novel coronavirus infection

The following measures shall be enforced by every member of club activities to prevent the further spread of the virus, both in extra-curricular activities and in his/her daily life.

  • Take extra caution not to become infected themselves.
  • Do not transmit the virus to others (you should always think that you might be infected with the virus). Do not generate clusters.

In Niigata, it is suspected that the virus has reached a stage where community transmission has already started.
We ask you to take thorough measures, such as washing your hands and wearing a mask not only in club activities but also in your daily life, to prevent further spread of the virus.
