Inside the International Commons

Purpose

Where international and Japanese students meet, connect, and learn from one another—International Commons serves as a hub for interaction and communication that supports Niigata University's global co-creation initiatives.
This space is available to students, faculty, and staff for a variety of purposes, including social interaction, collaborative learning, conversation, and relaxation. Food and beverages are permitted throughout the facility, making it suitable for meetings and interaction that involve refreshments. Whether for casual conversations or group work, we encourage you to make use of the space in ways that best suit your needs.

Location and Opening Hours

Faculty of Education Building E, Ikarashi Campus, Niigata University (former Large Lecture Hall site)

Usage Category Opening Hours
General Use Weekdays: 8:00 a.m. - 6:30 p.m.
Exclusive Use Weekdays, Weekends, and Holidays: 8:30 a.m. - 9:00 p.m.

Note: 

  • The facility is closed during the University's summer and year-end/New Year holiday periods.
  • The facility may also be closed due to entrance examinations, university events, or other circumstances.

FY2026 University Holiday Periods

  • Summer Holiday Period: August 12–14, 2026
  • Year-end/New Year Holiday Period: December 29, 2026 – January 3, 2027

General Use

No reservation is required for general use, such as social interaction, collaborative learning, conversation, or relaxation.
Please note that the facility is not available for general use when it has been reserved for exclusive use.

【Usage Guidelines】

  • Please dispose of all waste properly and leave the facility clean after use.
  • If you move any furniture or equipment, please return it to its original location.
  • Please refrain from any behavior that may disturb other users.
  • The use of open flames and the bringing of hazardous materials into the facility are prohibited.
  • The sale of goods and any similar commercial activities are prohibited.

Exclusive Use

The International Commons is available for exclusive use of the entire facility. For details regarding exclusive use, please refer to the Exclusive Use Guide and Reservation Application.
