On December 4, 2019, Niigata University signed an inter-university agreement with Central China Normal University (CCNU), China. CCNU is a comprehensive university, located in Wuhan, the capital of Hubei Province, and is one of the universities joining the Chinese government's 211 Project. We have promoted academic and student exchange with CCNU under an inter-departmental exchange agreement since 2010. The inter-university agreement was concluded in the expectation that our collaboration will be even more constructive based on the tremendous achievements in student exchange mostly in the Japanese Department.
The agreement was signed by the President Sugata Takahashi of Niigata University and the President Fanghua Hao of CCNU, confirming our closer cooperation in the presence of Prof. Exian Li, the Director of Japanese Department, School of Foreign Languages of CCNU, who completed the Doctoral Program in Graduate School of Modern Society and Culture, Niigata University and has been Niigata University Liaison Professor.

On the same day, the Niigata University Educational Fair was held for the students of Japanese Department, School of Foreign Languages of CCNU. At the fair, our faculty explained about Student Exchange Program as well as Degree-seeking Master's/Doctoral Program in Graduate School of Modern Society and Culture. A total of approximately 90 students participated and were eager to ask questions. President Takahashi talked enthusiastically about the benefit of studying abroad and the fair ended in great success.
We will continue to promote cooperation with leading universities in China as part of our East Asia Strategy.

International and Japanese students experienced together a sake brewery tour as a fieldwork of the course, Niigata University G-code subject “Intercultural Collaborative Learning B: Cross Cultural Understanding through the Collaborative Learning with International Students”
