Exchange Agreement Concluded with Huazhong University of Science and Technology

On December 5, 2019, Niigata University signed an inter-university agreement with Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST), China. HUST is a comprehensive university, located in Wuhan, the capital of Hubei Province, and is one of the universities joining the Chinese government's 985 Project. HUST is an acclaimed leading research university in China mainly for Science and Engineering as well as Medicine. We have promoted academic and student exchange mostly in the field of Japanese Studies with HUST under an inter-departmental agreement exchange agreement since 2010. The inter-university agreement was concluded in the expectation that our collaboration will be even more extensive.

The agreement was signed by the President Sugata Takahashi of Niigata University and the President Li Yuanyuan of HUST in the presence of the parties concerned from both parties. On the same day, the Niigata University Educational Fair was held for the students of Japanese Department, School of Foreign Languages of HUST. At the fair, our faculty explained about Student Exchange Program as well as Degree-seeking Master's/Doctoral Program in Graduate School of Modern Society and Culture. A total of approximately 70 students participated and were eager to ask questions.

We will continue to promote cooperation with leading universities in China as part of our East Asia Strategy.
