Niigata University signed a partnership agreement with Asia Center for Air Pollution Research (ACAP), which is a branch office of the Japan Environmental Sanitation Center, on Monday, March 19.
ACAP is an international center with the network monitoring atmospheric environments at 61 sites in 13 East Asian countries. ACAP is expected to contribute to solving issues in the East Asian Rim including air pollution through a partnership with our university, the largest university on the Sea of Japan.
At the signing ceremony President Takahashi said, "By collaborating with ACAP, we will further promote the East Asian Rim Network Framework, which is an important strategic vision of Niigata University, for the Third Mid-term Target and Plan. We want to strengthen our work to solve issues in East Asian Rim regions. " Director Sakamoto of ACAP said, "This partnership agreement has the potential to contribute in many ways to East Asian communities, and also Niigata Prefecture and Niigata City as the core areas."

Also, as one approach linked to this partnership agreement from April 2018, ACAP and Niigata University's Graduate School of Science and Technology will establish a collaborative graduate school, which is a collaborative educational system linked with external institutions that have advanced research standards. We will move forward to become a research base in fields related to air pollution in East Asia.
At the following memorandum exchange, Dean, Prof. Tanabe of Graduate School of Science and Technology stated his determination by saying, "I would like to use our research results with ACAP to contribute to society and cultivate talented individuals for solving air pollution problems in East Asia."
Niigata University will continue initiatives to return educational research achievements to society in the future.
