Ten million yen has been donated as the emergency student support fund from Niigata Medical Association to the Faculty of Medicine, Niigata University. The presentation ceremony took place on Thursday, June 11, 2020, at Niigata Medical Association Hall.
The fund was offered by Niigata Medical Association in order to support students of the School of Medicine, Faculty of Medicine, who have been experiencing financial difficulties due to the outbreak of the novel coronavirus. A logbook was presented from Mr. Toru WATANABE, the President of Niigata Medical Association to Prof. Toshiyuki SOMEYA, the Dean of Faculty of Medicine, Niigata University. It's being said that the financial support for medical students on this scale has been unprecedented in Japan.
Currently, the Faculty of Medicine is accepting application for the support fund as stipend and will be carrying out the procedure to support as many distressed students as possible.
