President Sugata Takahashi attended the Eastern Financial Forum held in Vladivostok, Russia on Friday and Saturday, September 2 and 3. Taking advantage of the occasion, he talked with the rector of the Primorskaya State Academy of Agriculture, which we have an exchange agreement with. He also attended the signing of faculty exchange agreements between Niigata University's Faculty of Agriculture and the Primorsky Scientific Research Institute of Agriculture, which is part of the Russian Science Academy, and between the All Russia Soybean Research Center, which is also part of the Russian Science Academy. He also had a discussion with the President of Pacific State Medical University, which has a faculty exchange agreement between Niigata University's Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Dentistry and the Graduate School of Medical and Dental Sciences.

President Takahashi exchanged ideas with Rector Andrei Komin and Vice Rector Sergey Inshakov about promoting research exchange at the Primorskaya State Academy of Agriculture.

This Academy and Niigata University are jointly researching the test cultivation of nontransgenic edible soybeans. People are expecting proof of the superiority of Niigata style fertilization, which is a system of fertilizing with slow acting fertilizer in 20 cm of soil beforehand, as well as contributing to developing the Russian Federation Far East area that has major potential for food production increases.

Director Alexey Emelianov, with President Takahashi as a witness, signed the agreement, which already had the necessary signatures from Niigata University, at the exchange agreement signing ceremony between Niigata University's Faculty of Agriculture, the Primorsky Scientific Research Institute of Agriculture and the All Russia Soybean Research Center. The attendees included the Director from the National Agriculture and Food Research Organization, the International Region Chief and the International Director from the Secretariat International Division in the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries and the Special International Research Assistant from the Technology Conference Secretariat in the International Research Department of the Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries.

Pacific State Medical University coordinates five schools of a federally controlled medical university cluster in the Russian Federation Far East area among the 47 federally controlled medical universities that exist in all Russia. The university is developing an exchange with Niigata University under the global university development reinforcement project called "Building a Global Medical Human Resources Development Framework Contributing to the Economical and Industrial Development of Japan and Russia." President Takahashi exchanged ideas with President Valentin Shumatov and Vice President Vladimir Kuznetsov about deepening future exchange, and they said that they would like to visit Niigata University in October.
