Three Centers of Niigata University, University of Yamanashi, and Kagoshima University have established an Agreement of Cooperation on alcoholic beverages

On September 30, 2021, Sakeology Center, Niigata University, The Institute of Enology and Viticulture, University of Yamanashi, and Education and Research Center for Fermentation Studies, Kagoshima University, established an Agreement of Cooperation on alcoholic beverages and held a signing ceremony on the same day.
The objective of this agreement is to cooperate widely in various aspects of education, research, regional contribution, industry-academia collaboration, and international exchange related to alcoholic beverages under organizational cooperation, and to return their results to society, as well as to contribute to the development of Japan and human resources.
In order to prevent the spread of COVID-19 infection, the ceremony was held by connecting the three centers online.
The agreement was signed by SUZUKI Kazushi, Director of Sakeology Center, Niigata University, OKUDA Tohru, Director of the Institute of Enology and Viticulture, University of Yamanashi, TAMAKI Hisanori, Director of Education and Research Center for Fermentation Studies, Kagoshima University. Afterward, the directors of each center gave a speech on the background to the agreement and their future activities.

 

 

With the establishment of an academic network for Japanese alcoholic beverages, the three centers will work on the further development of education and research activities under organizational cooperation while taking advantage of each center’s strengths.
On November 25 of this year, the three centers plan to hold the first Japanese alcoholic beverages symposium, “Shu-en (Connection through alcoholic beverages): Wine, Shochu, and Sake – Toward the Future of Japanese alcoholic beverages.
