The Faculty of Dentistry, Niigata University hosted the "International Collaborative Symposium on Development of Human Resources in Practical Oral Health and Treatment 2024" from May 31 to June 1, 2024 in Bangkok, Thailand. This symposium was co-hosted by the Faculty of Dentistry, Mahidol University.

Now in its 14th session, this symposium aims to nurture young oral health researchers and establish a collaborative research network across the world, especially Asia. After a break due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it resumed online last year and was held in-person this year for the first time in four years, bringing together many researchers from various countries.

From the Faculty of Dentistry at Niigata University, 23 faculty members and 24 graduate students participated in the symposium. Additionally, over 150 researchers attended from various regions (including deans of dental schools), such as ASEAN countries, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Nepal, and Romania.

The symposium featured special lectures, including those by Assistant Professor Sayaka Tada (National University of Singapore) and Associate Professor Naoki Takahashi (Periodontology), Professor Kazuhiro Hori (Comprehensive Prosthodontics), and Associate Professor Takanori Tsujimura (Dysphagia Rehabilitation) from Faculty of Dentistry, Niigata University. In addition to these four special lectures, the symposium included four themed symposium sessions, 24 oral presentations, and 32 poster presentations, with lively discussions.

On June 1, the Deans' Meeting was held, where participants exchanged views on the development of international collaborative research and the exchange of students and young researchers. Many expressed a strong desire for strengthened collaboration with the Faculty of Dentistry, Niigata University.

Moving forward, the Faculty of Dentistry, Niigata University will continue to promote international exchange through these symposiums.
