Study in Japan Educational Fair in Krasnoyarsk, Russia

Niigata University organized "Study in Japan Educational Fair" in Krasnoyarsk, Russia from Wednesday, February 6 to Thursday, February 7. Niigata University, along with Hokkaido University and University of Tsukuba have been commissioned by Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology - Japan (MEXT) to implement "Study in Japan Global Network Project"*. The fair was held as part of the project with the support of Krasnoyarsk State Medical University, which is our partner university providing us the venue.

*"Study in Japan Global Network Project" aims to accept more number of students studying in Japan by providing All-Japan full support including from recruitment to the follow-up after returning home. Hokkaido University, University of Tsukuba and Niigata University have been entrusted by MEXT since 2018 (maximum of 5 years) to target Russia and the CIS region, one of the designated priority areas.

On the first day, with the participation of 6 universities and 1 Japanese Language Institute, following the overview of studying in Japan, the talks about the experience of studying in Japan by Russian students as well as presentation by each participating university and institute to introduce themselves, study-in-Japan consultation session took place at the booths for each university. In the venue, there were 230 students from high schools and universities gathering, listening to explanation attentively and asking a lot of questions. In conjunctions with the fair, the booths were set up for experiencing Japanese culture, where the participants enjoyed trying calligraphy, origami and kimono. On the second day, mock lectures on archaeology by Hokkaido University and medical science by Niigata University were delivered. 45 participating students enthusiastically asked many questions. There were a lot of favorable comments, such as "The fair enabled me to have a clearer image of studying in Japan" and "I got more strongly motivated to study in Japan." The two-day fair ended in great success.

Niigata University will continue to further promote the project welcoming students from Russia and the CIS region making use of our achievement we have made through cooperation with Russia.
