Niigata University held its 2025 Graduation Ceremony at Toki Messe in Chuo-ku, on Monday, March 23.
A total of 2,943 students were awarded a degree or completion certificate: 2,193 bachelor’s degrees, 702 graduate degrees, and 48 graduate degrees in the school nurse program. In addition, 3 students were awarded doctorate degree by dissertation. Among the students with bachelor’s degrees, 20 students were awarded minor certificates, authorized for their special academic achievements outside their majors.
At the ceremony, President SOMEYA presented the relevant diplomas, certificates of completion and minor certificates to the representatives of the graduating students.
President SOMEYA then congratulated the graduates, saying, “It is not the university itself that ultimately shapes the future. It is each of you who leaves this campus today. Society is not something already completed. It is not something given to us by others. Society is something that all of you will participate in, sustain, and continue to create. Take pride in your field of study and apply your knowledge wherever you go. With the knowledge and experiences you have gained at this university—rooted in the region and open to the world—may you bring a quiet but steady light to the future of humanity and society. In an unstable world, autonomy becomes ever more essential. In an age of rapidly advancing technology, creativity becomes ever more necessary. I sincerely hope that each of you will take on that role and open new paths for the future wherever you may go”.
Ms. MATSUSHIMA Satsuki, graduating from the Faculty of Education, replied on behalf of the graduates, “Thanks to the support of so many people, we, as students of Niigata University, have been able to grow not only academically but also as individuals through a wide range of activities. On behalf of all graduates, we would like to express our sincere gratitude to everyone who supported us: our dedicated professors and senior students, our friends with whom we learned and grew together, our families who always watched over us with warmth, and members of the local community”.
We sincerely hope that all our graduates will lead lives filled with challenges, learning, and meaningful encounters. Congratulations on your graduation, and we wish you every success in your future.
